Insurance & coverage

Legged robots
fall over.
Plan for it.

Liability, physical damage, transit and extended service, quoted with the machine, not sold to you after something has already gone wrong.

01 / Why this is a separate conversation

A walking robot is an unusual asset. It is mobile, it is expensive, it operates near people, and it spends its first six weeks in a shipping container. Most commercial policies were not written with it in mind, and the gaps only surface at claim time.

We arrange four distinct things. They are not the same product and they are not regulated the same way, so we list them separately rather than bundling them into a word like “protection.”

02 / What we arrange

Four lines.
Priced separately.

01

Third-party liability

Insurance

Injury or property damage the robot causes

Bodily injury and property damage arising from the operation of the platform on your site or in public: the person it bumps, the rack it clips, the pallet it drops.

A 72 kg machine moving at 1.5 m/s around people is a general liability question your existing policy may exclude, treat as an unscheduled auto-equivalent, or simply have never contemplated. Most operators discover the gap during the claim.

How it is written

Written per site and per fleet size, with limits set against the environment. A warehouse aisle and a public retail floor price very differently.

02

Physical damage to the platform

Insurance

The robot itself

Accidental damage to the unit: falls down stairs, collisions, crush, water ingress beyond its rating, fire, theft. Repair or replacement of the machine you paid for.

Legged robots fall over. That is not a defect, it is the operating envelope. A replacement hip actuator on a six-figure platform is not a line item most operations budgets absorb quietly.

How it is written

Agreed-value or replacement-cost basis, scheduled by serial number, with a deductible you choose against the premium.

03

Transit and marine cargo

Insurance

Ocean, air and domestic freight

Loss or damage in transit from the factory floor to your dock, including the ocean leg, port handling, customs inspection and the final domestic run.

Your platform spends 30 to 45 days in other people's hands. Carrier liability is limited by weight, not by value, which on a crated robot is close to worthless as a remedy.

How it is written

Placed per shipment or on an open cargo policy for repeat buyers. We arrange this by default on every unit we import.

04

Extended service plan

Service contract

Wear, faults and consumables

Parts and labour beyond the manufacturer's warranty term, covering wear items, actuator and drivetrain faults, and scheduled service by our technicians.

Manufacturer warranties on this equipment tend to run 8 to 12 months and expire exactly when a hard-worked machine starts needing attention.

How it is written

12, 24 or 36 months, quoted with the unit. This is a service contract, not insurance, and it is administered by us.

03 / How it works

The paperwork
starts before
the machine ships.

A claim is only as good as the record behind it. We build that record at commissioning, while the unit is still on our bench and nothing has gone wrong yet.

01

Condition report before it ships

Every unit is photographed, serial-recorded and function-tested at commissioning. That record is the baseline any future claim is measured against, and it is yours, not just ours.

02

Coverage quoted with the machine

Liability, physical damage and transit are priced alongside the unit, not bolted on after you have already committed. You see the coverage cost as its own line before you decide.

03

Placed through licensed partners

Insurance is underwritten by a licensed carrier and placed by a licensed broker. We are not the insurer and we never hold the risk. The carrier, the broker and the policy limits are named on your documents.

04

Claims run through us first

You call one number. We pull the condition report, the serial record and the service history, and hand the broker a complete file. We do the paperwork because we are the ones who kept it.

04 / What we are not

We are not
the insurer.

We do not underwrite anything and we never hold the risk. Coverage is written by a licensed carrier and placed by a licensed broker, both named on your documents. What we bring is the part they cannot: the condition report, the serial record, the service history and the person who answers the phone.

Where we are today. Our carrier and broker relationships are being finalised alongside our manufacturer agreements. Until they are signed we will scope your requirement and tell you honestly what it should cost. But we will not bind anything, and we will say so rather than let you assume otherwise.

05 / What is excluded

Said up front.

  • Deliberate misuse, unauthorised modification, or operating a unit outside its stated environmental envelope.
  • Loss caused by operating a platform without the FCC authorisation required to run it lawfully. Coverage does not repair a compliance problem.
  • Consequential business loss, unless separately underwritten.
  • Anything the manufacturer's warranty already covers, which we will tell you about rather than sell you twice.

Exclusions vary by carrier and by state. The binding list is the one on your policy, not the one on this page.

Price the machine
and the risk together.

Tell us the environment and the duty cycle and we will scope coverage alongside the platform quote, as its own line, so you can see exactly what it costs.
